About Tye
Tye Odom is the founder and senior SEO consultant at Whitewater Digital Marketing, a Navarre, Florida-based consultancy built on a single principle: the senior who sells the work is the senior who does the work. Tye started in search in 2010 and has spent the 15+ years since refining what works across local SEO, technical audits, content strategy, and Google Business Profile optimization.
Before founding Whitewater, Tye watched the typical agency pattern repeat across multiple shops. The senior who closed the deal got pulled onto five other accounts within months. Execution fell to juniors who learned SEO from blog posts. Reports got longer, results got quieter, and clients quietly churned at renewal. Whitewater exists because that pattern produces worse outcomes than it pretends to.
The Whitewater model trades scale for depth. Seven active clients at a time, every billed hour is Tye's hour, and no junior team running execution in the background. The constraint is mathematical: a senior can give seven clients 20-30 quality hours per month year-round without the work degrading. Past that number, something breaks. Either Whitewater hires a junior to absorb the overflow (breaking the model), or existing clients lose senior attention (breaking the trust). Neither happens.
The work doesn't get worse over time because the senior stays on it. That's the entire pitch.
What Tye writes about
Tye authors the pillar guides and blog content across the Whitewater site. The guides are written from actual client engagements, not recycled SEO blogs. When a guide cites a number ("18% of mid-size sites have orphan pages"), that number comes from Whitewater's audit data across real client sites.
Recent guide topics include the foundations of SEO in 2026, internal linking architecture and the Ranking Power model, what a real technical SEO audit covers, Google Business Profile optimization for local rankings, and optimizing for AI search and ChatGPT citations.
Tooling and approach
Tye builds custom tooling for the work where off-the-shelf software falls short. The Whitewater audit workflow combines Screaming Frog crawls, proprietary Python-based crawlers and ranking simulators, and a custom SEO audit tool that ingests Screaming Frog exports and uses the Anthropic API to generate title and meta suggestions, internal link mapping, and a PageRank-style "Ranking Power" deployment algorithm based on the 2024 Google API leak insights.
For local SEO clients, Tye built a proprietary local rank tracker that monitors Google Business Profile positioning at neighborhood-level grid points, giving sharper visibility into map pack movement than commercial tools provide. For client sites, the build stack is WordPress on managed hosting (typically Kinsta), Divi theme builder with custom CSS, LiteSpeed Cache for Core Web Vitals, and WPCode for tracking and schema implementation.
Outside SEO
When not running client work, Tye builds tools and explores technical projects. Current side work includes a Python-based day trading scanner that monitors SEC filings, news feeds, and premarket movers with tiered alert routing. The cross-pollination matters: building real automation tools sharpens the engineering judgment that shows up in SEO audits, link graph analysis, and the proprietary tooling Whitewater clients benefit from.
